About The Bridge Pub & Restaurant
Paul O'Hara's name has been synonymous with many of the North East's finest restaurants and after six years working for acclaimed chef Terry Laybourne, he's upped sticks and settled down in the quaint little village of Whorlton, 3 miles outside the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle, County Durham.
This bold but brave move has created a whole new life for wife Naomi, and young children Thomas and Sophie, who now include half a dozen free range hens as part of the immediate family. The changes have also been rung for the residents and visitors of Teesdale, who prior to Paul arriving at The Bridge had to travel far from home to experience the taste and sophistication of city dining. "It's a big change for people here" - says Paul, "my idea is to fuse together the creativity and excitement of the city, with great quality local produce that's freshly available right here on my doorstep.
Teesdale is a fabulous spot, quite un-spoilt, we're slowly but surely transforming The Bridge, and educating people's palates offering a great deal more choice, we have also introduced an extensive wine list - which has been specifically put together to complement the depth of flavour our menus deliver."
The Bridge Pub & Restaurant hold a specialist evening event every month - guests are served champagne on arrival followed by four course meal with accompanying wines. It's a perfect opportunity for real occasion dining. They also boast a spacious outdoor dining area and stunning scenery throughout the locality, if you haven't visited Teesdale yet, take a ride out through the rolling countryside and pop into The Bridge for supper - it's well worth a visit.
